Boston Marriage, January 27, 2008

Oh migosh! My throat was totally froggy as I awoke on Sunday morning. I called my specialist in L.A., but must wait until later this morning (12 noon!) to have my Lexington doctor and he conference call to plan a strategy to save my vocal cords.

We attempted a tech/run-through, but had to stop, as my voice grew weaker and weaker. We did a “whisper-through” line bash in the dressing room, a costume parade, a cold run with props and then went home where I promptly fell asleep, temperature of 101 degrees. I am determined to make it through this!

The article in the Herald-Leader was lovely and HUGE. (Thank you, Rich!) As usual , the quotes he attributed to me were monosyllabic. (“It’s about love”, “It’s fun to be mean”) whereas everyone else’s were on the order of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. I was spouting Newton’s Law…so what IS it about me that makes my monosyllables so intriguing?

My car died on the way home and the Mister and I must now rent one to accommodate the play and his teaching. Bummer.

The set is LOVELY…HUGE! I’m so thrilled to have a place to leap about in. It was my great fear that I would be knocking over priceless antiques, but this will not happen. Our technical crew busts its tushes to get us what we need, but we always have so little time to use it before we must Set the Props and Blocking.

My Schedule:

Line Bash/Doctor/Pharmacy/Costume/Make-up aaaaand…

“Lights up!” for Monday’s dress rehearsal.
