From the Artistic Director
With the holiday season upon us, it is always nice to take a moment and reflect on all we have to be thankful for. As the Artistic Director at Actors Guild of Lexington, I have many many people to thank for the successful 2007 calendar year we have had. If you will indulge me in this space, here are some of the folks and organizations who make possible the work we do. Without them, none of us would be sitting here today:
• To all of our sponsors and supporters…there are a ton of charitable possibilities for people to give their hard earned money to. Here at AGL, we are grateful for the support of many fine companies, foundations and individuals who make our life a little easier.
• To the Board of Trustees of Actors Guild of Lexington. Serving on a volunteer board is often a thankless task. Allow me to thank all of you for the many hours you put in to assure we produce the best possible theatre for our region.
• To Cynthia Bohn and Maury Sparrow of Equus Run Vineyards. Thanks for reaching out and taking a chance on AGL. We are excited about being back during Summer 2008.
• To Paragon Music Theatre. Thank you for be willing to collaborate with us on two GIANT musicals that we would never be able to do as a stand alone company. I am hopeful we are providing a model for local cooperation amongst arts organizations.
• To Jim Clarks and LexArts. Your tireless work on behalf of all the arts here in Lexington is greatly appreciated, even when I call you to complain about something!
• To the staff of Actors Guild of Lexington: Scott, Marcie, Eric, Margaret, Clara, Julieanne, Kim and Becky. It’s not always easy (in fact it never is) but we seem to find a way to get it done.
• To the many talented actors, directors, designers, and technicians locally, regionally and nationally who work long, long hours for very little pay but pride themselves on their commitment and professionalism. Being a theatre professional is not about a union designation, it is about taking pride and responsibility in your work. I am extremely proud of the work we put on our stage and the commitment of all involved.
• Finally, and most importantly, to YOU, yes, YOU, sitting in the audience, before the show starts, reading this in your playbill. Everything we do (to quote Brian Adams’s trite 90’s song) we do it for you. In a world of ever fracturing entertainment choices, the fact that you chose to spend your evening with us is the greatest gift you can give. In turn, we hope to give you the gift of a great production today. Thank you so much for coming, stick with us, great things are afoot in the New Year.
Wishing everyone a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!
From all of us at Actors Guild of Lexington…
Peace and Love
